WATCH DEVOTIONAL
In celebration of the 170th anniversary of the Church in Aotearoa New Zealand, the Area Presidency has created a special children’s book, Whakapono, Tūmanako me ngā Merekara: Faith, Hope, and Miracles. This full-colour, bilingual picture book tells the story of the early beginnings of the Church in New Zealand. It also shares inspiring stories of faith, hope, and the miracles experienced by early Church members.
The book is available in both Māori and English and is designed to strengthen the testimonies of primary-aged children, youth, and their families. Each stake in the country will receive copies to distribute to families with primary-aged children, ensuring that everyone can enjoy and learn from this beautiful piece of Church history.

How to Participate
We invite all stake and ward councils, along with primary leadership, to join together in organizing a local event to distribute the books. Here are the steps to follow:
-
Watch the Book Launch Video: A video of the book launch will be shared with Stake Presidents on Friday, 20 September 2024. Primary leaders are encouraged to watch it in advance to understand the purpose of the book and how it can be used in your stake.
-
Plan Your Local Event: You may choose to use the video in your event or run it without the video. Either way, we ask that your primary leadership is familiar with the video content to share the vision of the book.
-
Distribute the Books: Stake Presidents will receive copies of the book, ensuring each family with a primary-aged child receives one. Extra copies will be available, so please counsel together on how to use them to strengthen faith and testimonies within your stake.
