PURPOSE

This guide is intended to help stake presidencies oversee and support the successful implementation of the updated Sunday meeting format within their stake.

While many implementation activities occur at the ward and branch level, stake leaders play an important role in communicating the vision, encouraging preparation, and ensuring local leaders have the resources and support they need.

YOUR ROLE

Stake presidencies are invited to:

  • Communicate the purpose and vision behind the changes.
  • Encourage wards and branches to prepare early.
  • Ensure bishops and ward leaders are aware of the Sunday Meeting Changes Implementation Hub
  • Support local leaders throughout implementation.
  • Encourage continued learning after implementation begins.

PACIFIC AREA IMPLEMENTATION HUB

The Pacific Area implementation hub provides access to the latest Headquarters and Pacific Area resources supporting the updated Sunday meeting format.

  • Review Headquarters implementation resources
  • Become familiar with the Sunday Meeting Changes Implementation Hub and return to it regularly for the latest videos, resources, and updates
  • Begin planning for local implementation

Encourage bishops and ward councils to:

Sunday, 30 August — Discuss Together

Encourage wards and branches to:

  • Hold separate youth and adult discussions
  • Use the available discussion guides and demonstration videos found on the Sunday Meeting Changes Implementation Hub
  • Focus on building confidence rather than covering every detail of the implementation
  • Refer to the Sunday, 30 August — Discuss Together section of the Implementation Hub regularly for the latest resources and updates

Sunday, 6 September — Launch Day

Encourage leaders to:

  • Begin using the updated Sunday meeting format using the videos and guidance found on the Sunday Meeting Changes Implementation Hub
  • Support teachers and facilitators during the first week of implementation
  • Continue strengthening gospel teaching and learning through future teacher councils
  • Refer to the Sunday, 6 September — Launch Day section of the Implementation Hub regularly for the latest resources and updates

LEADERSHIP PRINCIPLES

As implementation progresses:

  • Focus on the purpose of the changes rather than simply the mechanics.
  • Encourage discussion, participation, and learning together.
  • Allow wards and branches flexibility to apply these principles according to local needs.
  • Support teachers and leaders as they develop confidence.
  • Remember that implementation is a journey, not a single event.

FINAL NOTE

Thank you for your leadership as you prepare your stake for these important changes. As stake leaders communicate the vision, encourage preparation, and support bishops, teachers, and members, these updates can help strengthen home-centred, Church-supported gospel learning and deepen faith in Jesus Christ throughout the Pacific Area.
