Beginning in September, Sunday meetings will follow a new pattern designed to strengthen home-centred, Church-supported gospel learning. This page brings together the key resources to help leaders, teachers, youth, and members in the Pacific Area to prepare for the transition.


JULY – UNDERSTAND AND PLAN

FOCUS: LEARN ABOUT THE CHANGES AND BEGIN PREPARING AS WARD AND STAKE COUNCILS.

During July, stake and ward leaders are encouraged to become familiar with the new Sunday meeting format, review the implementation resources from Church headquarters, discuss the changes in Ward Council, and begin planning for local implementation.

AUGUST – HOLD A SPECIAL TEACHER COUNCIL

FOCUS: BUILD TEACHER AND LEADER CONFIDENCE THROUGH TEACHER COUNCILS.

In mid-August a teacher council should be held for teachers and leaders to learn together, observe the new teaching model, discuss local implementation, and prepare for the Fifth Sunday in August.

Note: The Teaching Demonstration Videos will be available in all Pacific languages no later than 8 August. English versions will be available from late July.

SUNDAY 30 AUGUST – DISCUSS TOGETHER

FOCUS: DISCUSS THE CHANGES TOGETHER AS WARDS AND BRANCHES.

Ward and Branch members will divide into two groups to discuss and prepare for the changes. Primary will proceed as normal.

Group 1: Youth, Youth Leaders, and Parents of Youth (50 Mins)

Youth, parents, and youth leaders are invited to gather together to explore the new For the Strength of Youth curriculum, watch one or more of the videos listed below, and discuss how these changes will strengthen gospel learning beginning in September.

Group 2: Adults (50 Mins)

All other adults are invited to gather together to watch one or more of the videos listed below, and discuss how these changes will strengthen gospel learning beginning in September.

Group 3: Primary (50 Mins)

Primary will proceed as normal.


SUNDAY 6 SEPTEMBER – LAUNCH DAY

FOCUS: BEGIN THE NEW SUNDAY MEETING FORMAT.

The first Sunday in September provides an opportunity to experience the updated meeting schedule and continue learning together using the new teaching approach. 

Block 1: Youth and Adult Sunday School Classes (25 Mins)

During adult and youth Sunday School classes, participants will watch one or more videos from the options provided below and discuss key principles.

Block 2: Relief Society & Elders Quorum (25 Mins)

During Relief Society and Elders Quorum, participants will watch one or more videos from the options provided below and discuss key principles.

Block 2: Aaronic Priesthood and Young Women (25 Mins)

Having discussed the changes the previous week, Aaronic Priesthood Quorums and Young Women classes will begin using the new FSY Guide and the September Youth Curriculum resources.

Full Block: Primary (55 Mins)

Primary will follow their normal schedule with Primary now lasting 55 minutes.
