Sunday Meeting Changes – Fifth Sunday Discussion Guide for Youth, Parents, and Leaders

A fifth Sunday discussion guide to help youth, their parents, and youth leaders prepare for the new Sunday meeting format.

PURPOSE

This Fifth Sunday discussion is an opportunity for youth, their parents, youth leaders, and Primary children who will turn 12 in 2027, to explore the new For the Strength of Youth curriculum together and prepare for the changes beginning in September. This discussion is to be held during the second hour of Church on Sunday, 30 August 2026.


BEFORE YOU BEGIN

As you prepare to facilitate the discussion:


SUGGESTED DISCUSSION FLOW

1. Welcome (2 Minutes)

  • Welcome everyone
  • Briefly explain the purpose of today’s discussion
  • Opening prayer

2. Review the New Curriculum (10-15 Minutes)

Take time to ensure that youth, parents, and leaders are aware of the new youth curriculum materials, and that they know where to find them.

Review together:

Also take time to inform participants that starting in September 2026, Sunday lesson guides supporting weekly Young Women classes and Aaronic Priesthood quorum meetings will be printed in the back of each issue of the For the Strength of Youth Magazine.

Digital versions of the Sunday Lesson guides will be available in the Gospel Library App from September onwards at Library > Youth > For the Strength of Youth Magazine

Note: Please work with local ward and branch leaders, if physical or digital copies of the 'For the Strength of Youth Magazine' are not accessible in your country or region.

3. Watch the Videos (10-15 Minutes)

Note: Facilitators may choose to watch the full videos provided above, or selected segments of the videos based on local needs.

As participants watch the videos, ask them to ponder questions such as:

  • What stood out to you from the video(s)?
  • How did youth participate?
  • How did the facilitator encourage discussion?
  • How were the scriptures or curriculum used?
  • What helped the lesson feel natural and Christ-centred?

4. Discuss Together (10-15 Minutes)

Encourage participants to share their observations from the videos. Potential discussion questions may include:

  • What excites you about the new For the Strength of Youth guide?
  • How is this different from what you’ve experienced before?
  • What stood out to you from the video(s)?
  • What helped the discussion feel meaningful?
  • What role did the youth play?
  • What role did the adult leader play?
  • What are you looking forward to in September?
  • How can parents and leaders best support youth?
  • How can youth come prepared to participate each week?
  • What is still uncertain or unclear about the new curriculum?

5. Conclude (2 Minutes)

Bear testimony.

Invite every youth to:
